Vacheries
In July 1990, Joëlle lands her first major role. Director Marcel Jean casts her as Sylvie, a young city ingénue who is spending the summer with her Machiavellian country cousin. Murder, mystery and mayhem abound in this attention-grabbing short, a hit in numerous film festivals.

Montréal, P.Q. I, II & III [ Video excerpt ]
In 1991, Joëlle becomes Roxanne Blondeau, the central character in a serial drama by best-selling author Victor Lévy-Beaulieu. Joëlle is brilliant as the rebellious teenager, standing against her own family and the false and hypocritical world of high-class bourgeoisie in the 40s.

Scoop I, II, III & IV [ Video excerpt ]
During her time on Montréal, P.Q., Joëlle also appears as Alexandra Dumoulin in Scoop, a cult series that broke every rating record in 1992. She portrays a sweet, naïve and altruistic young reporter, willing to work her way up from an entry-level position at L’Express newspaper. Scoop dominated ratings until its final episode aired in 1995.

Chili's Blues [ Video excerpt 1 2 3 ]
In 1993, Joëlle is cast in her first feature film. By all accounts, her character is the fortunate daughter of a wealthy family. Under her haughty and snobbish shell, however, dark despair has taken hold. A bulimic kleptomaniac, Lili lives in fear, knowing she is pregnant and that the dreaded moment of truth is just a breath away. Set in the 60s, the film was screened at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival.

Alys Robi [ Video excerpt ]
1994 brings true recognition: Joëlle is asked to fill the mythical shoes of superstar singer Alys Robi. Only 23 years old at the time, the young actress displays such spunk, passion and finesse that her work earns her an Artis Award for best actress as well as a Gémaux nomination. This role brings Joëlle’s unquestionable talent and versatility to light, as she explores the complete range of human emotions.

Les Grands Procès
In 1995, Joëlle plays Chantal Blais in L’Affaire Côté. She appears in the episode’s opening scene where she delivers a heart-wrenching testimony against her boyfriend who stands accused of murdering Brother Joseph, gatekeeper at the private school he attends. The Great Trials was one of TVA’s most popular series in the 90s.

Urgence I & II [ Video excerpt ]
Joëlle begins to work on Urgence in 1995 and the entire Province of Quebec drops their evening activities to watch their very own ER, drawing over 2 million viewers a week during its entire run. Joëlle is Nathalie, a naïve and loveable nurse enamoured with a married doctor. Energetic and devoted, Nathalie is new to healthcare and soon discovers the highs and lows of this field of employment.

Pour une Nuit
In 1996, Joëlle becomes Elle, a lonesome, down-and-out country singer in this short film entirely shot behind closed doors. The movie takes place in the singer’s apartment and is filmed in real time. Elle brings home a bar patron, a fragile and sensitive young man in search of true love. But the sarcastic and nihilistic barbs of the disillusioned songbird confront him at every turn.

Paparazzi
In 1997, Joëlle meets a larger-than-life character: Manon Delage is a former porn model who has decided to reinvent her life and become a photographer. She joins the paparazzi and soon takes very damaging pictures of a popular singer. Manon gets in trouble more times than she can count… The series is an instant success.

Virginie [ Video excerpt 1 2 ]
Joëlle joins the cast of Virginie in 1997 and portrayed Cathy, the school psychologist, until the show's grand finale in 2010. A daily series, Virginie was a pillar of Quebec television for 15 years. Cathy went through a lot during that time, including surviving breast cancer... As one of the first openly gay characters on television, she also faced prejudice and discrimination, but always managed to keep her head up.

Tohu-Bohu I & II
In 1999 and 2000, Joëlle becomes Princess Boudroulboudour, Aladin’s girlfriend in the children’s series Tohu-Bohu. When a book chest falls out of a small plane during a tropical storm, the “Big Bang” ejects several popular characters from their respective fairytales. Stranded, they must now make the island of Tohu-Bohu their home.

Rumeurs I & III
From 2002 to 2004, Joëlle joins the cast of Rumeurs. She plays Nadia, girlfriend to chronically commitment-phobic Benoît. It does not take very long for this strong, smart, independent dentist to realize that her relationship is heading nowhere fast and she shocks her former beau by revealing that she is leaving for Myanmar with Doctors without Borders.

Autopsie/Femme
2004 marks the beginning of a new collaboration between Joëlle and fellow actress Charlotte Laurier. Laurier has just completed her second play entitled Autopsie/Femme and entrusts Joëlle with the part of Angie, a young prostitute with a dark past, a tragic destiny and flippant honesty that cuts like a knife. Joëlle is deeply moving as the shocking yet loveable Angie.

La Promesse I & II
In 2004, Joëlle is also offered the part of Helen Polgar in La Promesse. The series revolves around Michel Daveluy’s publishing house and its star author, his wife Isabelle. A skilled translator, Helen is hired to convert Isabelle’s novels into English. In time, Helen and Michel begin to fall in love, and Isabelle’s world crumbles. Elegant, competent and fundamentally honest, Helen struggles with her double life.

En Parallèle [ Video excerpt ]
In 2005, Joëlle is approached by the senior film students from her alma mater to star in their final graduation project, a short titled En Parallèle. She agrees to play Anne-Marie, a young woman who rushes her way through a life she is completely disconnected from, only managing superficial relationships with friends and family. By the end of the film, she realizes how miserable and lonely she really is.

The Point [ Video excerpt ]
2005 is also the year when Joëlle gets to work with director Joshua Dorsey. The Point is a feature film about the fragmented lives of teenagers from an underprivileged Montreal neighborhood where crime, drugs and corruption run rampant. Joëlle becomes Chelsea’s Step-Mom, the evil stepmother of a broken-hearted girl who is watching her family fall apart.

A Family Secret [ Trailer ] [ Video excerpt 1 2 3 4 ]
Still in 2005, Joëlle is cast in A Family Secret, a variation on the themes of love, betrayal, lies, forgiveness and death. Joëlle plays Blanche, a passionate, loving, merciless and tender young woman rejected by her husband Jos. The story of Blanche and her lover unfolds through flashbacks to the 50s and 60s where Joëlle is truly outstanding as the outrageous and extraordinary Blanche.

En Audition avec Simon [ Watch the episode ]
In 2010, Joëlle stars in the hit web series En Audition avec Simon, created by the multi-talented director Simon Olivier Fecteau. In this episode, Joëlle is determined to get the part she auditions for...

La Cicatrice (The Scar)
In 2010, Joëlle also begins to work on La Cicatrice, a psychological thriller written, directed and produced by Jimmy Larouche. Set in two different eras, Joëlle plays Guylaine, the devoted mother of a young boy struggling with early manhood in the poor and rural Quebec of the 70s.
